Believe it or not it is still illegal to drive electric vehicles on South African roads. Electric vehicles are a very good means to help with Environment issues and global warming. Internal combustion engines are inefficient, expensive to maintain and they are the second largest contributer to Greenhouse gases(after Livestock). The resulting air pollution and noise in cities is another undesirable side effect.

I have previously posted on the electric bicycle industry in China. which if legalized here, could have a great positive impact in South Africa for a large number of commuters. Providing cheaper and cleaner transportation in our sunny climate and help keep the air in the cities cleaner. Even just opening the roads in our CBD's for these cleaner machines would have a great positive impact in our cities.
